Connector for rear distance warning
At the moment I feel like a complete idiot. I am trying to re-connect the male and female sockets for the wiring to the rear bumper proximity sensors on my tourer.
The two halves of the connector have a clear shape showing how they go together. My two year old grandchild could see this. In spite of this, I cannot press them together, even making sure I squeeze the locking tab. It is as if the centre is problem, but I dare not try and close with a water pump plier. Has anybody ever experienced this? There is no obvious damage that I can see, no obstructed holes or bent pins. I am at a total loss, but will continue tomorrow in daylight.

look inside both halves, I think there is a square rubber in side the socket? This can move forward and "slip over an edge" preventing the two halves clicking together. You can ease back the rubber with a small screwdriver

My son sorted it out!
Turns out the inner (centre) of the plug, was turned 180 degrees. So when the outer shape was right, the inner was wrong. I assumed that the inner was fixed. Assume!! Ass U Me! A strong cup of coffee is now called for. I think I will frame "Ass U Me"!!
