Headlight bulbs
My dashboard screen is showing near side dipped beam fault.
I assume a bulb has blown. Is it good practice to renew both bulbs at the same time? Which are the most suitable bulbs to buy and from which supplier? |

You only need to replace the blown bulb, unless you upgrade to a better bulb (Nightbreakers are a good choice)

Yes, good practice to replace both at the same time. If they are the same age as you don't want one, maybe, brighter than the other.---Some Halford stores will sell you the bulbs and fit them for you. |

I find it easier to take the wheel off then you can see what you are doing.
Also a good opportunity to clean the inside of the rim too. |

It's much more fiddly to replace the bulbs on a Mark 1 because of the design of the retaining clips. If you get Halfords (or anybody) to replace your bulbs check the removable access panels under the front of the wheelarches are replaced securely. One of mine fell off but fair play to Halfords they paid for a replacement. Worth replacing the sidelights at the same time if they are more than 5 years old as they go dim with age - they are an easy push fit.

headlight bulbs
Have today replaced and upgraded both dipped headlights with GT Ultra 120 bulbs from Powerbulbs ([email protected]). They cost £18.99 per pair PLUS you get another pair free and no postage. Arrived in less than 48 hours. They say more brightness, more distance and improved light colour.
Can't wait for it to get dark! |
