Default Yuck

So the Avensis has been dropped off for service, mot and recall tomorrow and I have a shiney hybrid loan car. And I hate it. I hate having a button and not a key. I had the constant stop starting and transitions from fuel to electric during slow driving. It just feels yuck. Not what I expected. I thought I'd be open to it but it annoys me!

I couldn't get on with the stop / start technology in the hired VW up when we were on holiday.

I collected it in the dark and the gear shift doesnt even light up. You can't tell if it going or not when you press the button as its silent. In traffic its constantly jerking between electric, fuel and engine stop. My friend has the prevoius model Yaris hybrid and it impressed me, but this brand new one really feels cheap and ghastly. I'll stick to and engine and key until they're banned methinks!

A few years ago we had a FIAT Punto hire care while on holiday in Italy.

It had stop/start. Absolute nuisance especially the first time when, not knowing it had the feature it "died" at some traffic lights! Having owned and known a few FIATS it "breaking down" wasn't a surprise

Picture the scene.... In Italy, with Italian drivers, with a "dead" car at some traffic lights that went green...... .

Also a pain because it turns the air con off. Just what you need in 35 degrees.

Sorry to hear the Yaris wasn't too good, family experience with older ones has been outstanding.

Andy.

They take a bit of getting used to. I'm not a fan of push button start either.
Cheap electric cars (not Tesla money) are surprisingly quick from a standing start.
I cant recall which make but when you remove your foot from the throttle it "brakes" well slows down and at quite a pace, this too gets some getting used to.

Some people love push button, no trying to find the slot for the ignition key in the dark.... I'm just not one of them

I got a bit more used to it today. The hybrid thing was okay after awhile, but the interior was ghastly. The car just wasn't to my taste, I don't really like little cars if I am honest, even without the other stuff. While picking my own back up, I did fall in love with the new Camry hybrid though. Now that is much more me. Just can't afford one hahahah!
