Angry K Seal enters the equation ...

Ahhh.

Unless I've missed it, that's the first time the devil's potion has been mentioned in this thread. Consider Pete that if this stuff has the capacity to block an oil cooler, can you imagine what it can do to smaller waterways in the cooling system such as parts of the thermostat, heater matrix and radiator?

Where K-seal has been introduced, a rational explanation is elusive. I'm afraid that you face a long haul trying to rid your engine of the stuff.

That sounds encouraging.

So the bottom hose change seems to have cured it.

Did you inspect the hose you took off ?

If clear, do you think that bleeding the system again was the cure ?

The old hose had the bleed screw plastic bit which sticks out of the hole damaged so it leaked a bit through past the screw. Its to early to tell if its ok like before everything was ok until the fan kicked in then it was taking a long time to cool back down to 95 and the bottom hose was cold but yesterday after i replaced the hose i runned it to 100 then the fan dropped it to 95 but that was just after i bled it before i drove it

You can get an aluminum version of the bleed screw from Rimmer Bros., the plastic one was also used on Land Rover Discovery 2 I think.

Will be interesting to see if the bottom hose solves all the issues. My car has had similar problems since 2012 despite my best efforts

If it had a water leak then air could get in too.---

Air in the V6 cooling system could have given you all those problems you had. Now with the new hose water tight the problems have gone away.---

Yesterday when i drove for half an hour in a mix of traffic i got to my destination and felt the bottom hose it was cold the temperature of the engine was between 90-92 degrees whilst i was driving slowly going up whilst i was in traffic but dropped when car was moving again. On the way home temperature was fine again until i got stuck in traffic the temperature gradually got to 100 degrees fan kicked in but it was staying at 100 until traffic started moving again i felt the bottom hose when i got home and it was hot the heaters were always warm as well. Also when i got home i let the engine tick over but it rose to 99 degrees and was staying there it didn't rise to 100 for the fan to kick in
