Default MG6 BTCC Edition

Not been on the forum for sometime now as sadly had to sell the 75 a few years ago, however there has always been an urge to get another Rover / MG in my life.

After many year's of searching I am now the proud owner of a 2014 MG6 BTCC Edition. Only 25 ever made and only 6 showing as registered !

I have been trying on various forums to try and track the last owner. All I have managed is a first name, Simon

And before people say I know it's not a real Rover, she is pretty special

Well done. I like these as they are not the ubiquitous Hatch or SUV wannabee like so many other cars on offer this past decade..

Pictures would be nice.

Yes, we know it's not a real Rover. Nothing new there.

When I bought my first MG back in the 1960s, MG enthusiasts told me it was not a proper MG ... Whatever that is...

Will get some pictures sorted this weekend, if the rain ever stops

I know the BTCC Edition is just cosmetic, but this does help with insurance and more importantly spare parts availability

Only twenty odd BTCC ones made... that's a rare car of what is a rare car anyway.

Foul weather and continuous rain in Gloucestershire this morning. Had a dentist appointment and got soaked walking to the appointment.

Typical... just in time for one of my all time favourite sporting events. Cheltenham racing festival. Then guess what, in time for the first race, skies cleared no clouds and bright sunshine most of afternoon showing the nearby Cotswold hills at their best.

No time to study form and only had two small bets... both finished a distant tired also ran in the muddy going which suits some horses, not others. Tomorrow as they say, is another day.

Love this time of year. Promise of better things to come, and F1 season kicks off in a few days...That's better.

Given up... yes, I think they have to some extent and clearly they want to sell cars in the UK, they are now offering cars folks want to buy so no surprise. Not the style of cars which appeal to this former new MG buyer, but then I've rarely done the "normal" thing where many things are involved.. Mind you at my age, my motoring needs may soon change too. I can still get in and out of my MGF without much effort. .

The MG6 was always a rare sight locally. The MG3 and now their SUV/Crossover are definitely selling at a much higher visible level in my neck of the woods.

Higher visible level... that's almost a ... pun...

As a Mg sales manager I do get asked all the time, when will we get a 2 door sports car, when will we get a sports saloon....

Unfortunately the 6 was a flop, mainly due to people have moved away from family saloons, unless its German, and a fleet vehicle driven in anger....MG couldn't sell the cars for the kinda discounts big fleets are used to getting and the residuals weren't good enough...as you say its all small hatch backs and SUV's now and you have to run with the pack if you want to be a success.

However MG are doing well and more models are due to land in the UK so fingers crossed!

Tim, can I ask how spares availability is for the MG6? There's some very nice ones on the second hand market for very reasonable cost but if they can't be repaired......
