End of life of the clutch
Hello, I have a Rover 75 MK2 cdti.
For some time in 4th and 5th gear the clutch seems to slip a little. I think it should be changed. Which parts need to be changed? The cheaper the better because since the covid-19 crisis I haven't been earning anything for 2 months. The clutch pedal is still firm and there is no problem on this side. I've read somewhere that there are two type of clutch, one with spring and an other called (in french) bimass (?) Which one is the best. Any information about a link to buy the good pieces at a good price for shipping to France ? Thanks a lot. (sorry about my english ) |

If you put your foot on the brake while revving the engine and let the clutch out when in first or second and stationary does the car stall? macafee2 |

Bimass is the fly wheel only.
Rarely needs to be changed.--- |

I would be very wary about doing this on the cheap, I have done two 75 clutches and it is a nightmare of a job. Once you have the gearbox off, you want to replace everything you can, with the highest quality bits you can. You do not want to have to take the gearbox off again.
Reusing the slave cylinder might be tempting, if it appears to be OK but it could well turn out to be a false economy, if it fails in a couple of thousand miles. It is up to you but trying to save money could be a false economy in the long run. |

Also if you don't have the money as you have been prevented by circumstances beyond your control to stop working, then it is a case of cutting the cloth accordingly Brian |
