Totally ignored it and went out for a spin on my 1964 motobecane 50cc moped.

Didn't need a face mask as my skid-lid did the job for me.--

That takes me back Jon.

Well had a call from the Daught and she had broken down in the Hippo. Towed it home and gave it the quick once over and it looks like the IRD gearbox has failed.

Sadly it has been running two wheel drive with the propshaft removed for the last couple of years Andy - I suppose I could refit the propshaft and run it rear wheel drive only, now that the drive to the front wheels has packed up. Only took the propshaft off due to the racket from the driveline at speed.

To be fair it cost 1600 quid eight years ago and it has been used for towing horse boxes and other such abuse over the 80k odd miles it has covered so we have had our money's worth out of it.

Always had a soft spot for Freelanders, although I should know better. I still have a Norton Commando in the garage mind, and there are far better bikes around too.

Ahh that's a shame Mike, park it up and get the Norton out for winter

Used to be a dispatch rider back in the day - not a good job in the winter.

Like you I'm far more at home in 30+ degrees of heat and plenty of sunshine!

Nowt on the R40 this weekend but changed the manifold on the Fl2 for a swirl free manifold, what a nightmare of a job, wouldn't want to do another one in an hurry that's for sure, the amount of other items you need to remove the manifold is just mad.

Still not finished as i have the fuel filter to replace and bleed, clear all the faults which will have cropped up due to all the sensors being removed, and the injector lines, and all this for preventive work as the flaps can break free and damage the engine after a certain mileage.

Took the old girl for. spruce up today, Primrose, not Mrs G!

I foolishly filled the washer bottle with caustic soda, as the pump sump was blocked with goo and I was in danger of failing an MOT. It certainly worked a treat, and also took off most of the lacquer from the bonnet roof and boot lid -the washers were very powerful after the unblocking exercise although slightly out of alignment!

So after 20 years of faultless service in all weathers, today she's off for a respray.
Expected completion date is end of October so when she's back in service I'll have some nice pictures to post

Its been a while since I was on the forum, and can't remember how to post a photo, so here's a link to it
