Default Technophobe changing battery?

I'm changing the battery on the wifes Polo with an aftermarket radio. It only works with the ignition on. She has daytime running lights. I have a Gunson vehicle memory saver. If I plug it into the ciggy socket, will the load of the lights (with ignition switched on) kill the memory saver? I could just remove and replace the car battery but it takes me ages to reset all the settings on the radio!EDIT:- just read the Gunson instructions and I can't use it due to overload. I hate "modern" cars! Oh well, practise makes perfect with the radio settings - again, and again................

The radio must be powered all the time to save its memory even though it only "works" with the ignition on. Just change the battery with the ignition off with the memory saver plugged in, assuming the lighter socket is powered with the ignition off .

I was about to suggest just pull the headlight fuses or relays to prevent overloading the memory saver.

Jump leads from your car to the her cars battery leads, then do the change over.

My post too late for you but might help others.---
