Default Analogue TV change to digital

If I wanted to update the analogue TV receiver, to digital, 1) is that possible, 2) what specific unit would I need to buy?

Buy a hybrid tuner from a E46 or E39

You are looking for the hybrid TV tuner from a BMW E39 or E46, do an Ebay search but they are not cheap, £140+ 2nd hand and rarely available in the UK, the vast majority for sale on Ebay are in Europe.

Thanks. So were there any digital/hybrid tuners for the 4:3 screen ratio, as I don't want to swap head units.

Or - assuming I"m ok with a squashed picture, will the unit above still work?

hi to all
if you want to upgrade from analog to digital you can do it your self have a look at this site of how to do it http://pibus.info/tv/ then for the dvb-t tuner or the dvb-t2 tuner you can buy from aliexpress have a look at these options
DVB-T Digital TV For BMW X3 E83
DVB-T TV For BMW E38 E39 E46 X5 E53 X3 E83,Z4 E85
DVB-T2 H.265 Digital TV For BMW E38 E39 E46 X5 E53 X3 E83 Z4 E85 ,Range Rover L322,Rover 75,MG ZT / MG ZT-T
as for the head unit you do not have to change to a widescreen unit if you fit the upgrade tuners to your existing video module it stays at 4.3
have a look at the pibus website it shows how to upgrade your existing video module hope this helps

Hi,

It's possible as I have one and my son Jake was watching tv on it today when I was in the CO OP picking up a few things. Depending on where you are you may get a decent signal. Jake hates shopping so loves this feature on our 75.

I got a 12v digi box off gumtree which is for camper vans and mobile applications. I believe I needed a simple loom and got everything working for £30-£35 all in. The digi box lives in the boot and there is a receiver in the car so the remote control works.

The receiver cable can run alone the sill trim and I've stuck mine on to the dash.

Cheers,

James
