Question Brake Disc Shield - Backplates

Hi guys,

I was wondering whether you have any information on the brake disc shields / backplates.

(1) is there one size fits all or are FR and RR special sizes?
(2) is a special size for 190 front brakes required?
(3) are there any alternatives, i.e. BMW that fit our cars?
(4) where best to get them from?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Cheers

Mats

The front ones can be split to fit over the hub to avoid a lot of dismantling if you are careful and retouch the paint to avoid rusting.

I found the PDF in this thread helpful:-

For what it may be worth, if the inner race of your bearing is seized on (mine was, and the one in the video is), I recommend you don't use heat to try to remove it as Rimmers suggest. I did, and it broke the ABS sensor which is a mission in itself to replace.

Hi Tim
I agree you are best using a Dremel to cut along the race to get it off, if notice in the Rimmer video it only showed adding heat to the race not it being removed after, also if you are doing the job have it in your mind you may have to replace the bearing due to the above.
