Default I Need Help here

Hi People hope you are well

I am in a hell of a quandary. My old girl failed MOT last month. Need springs and control arms for MOT. However my other Vehicle my (MB) Civic has now got problems and needs £200 for calliper's pads and discs.

She is my bread and butter and my 75 was my project. However i now cant afford to run two cars. I need only one car realistically. I love both but which one do i part with ?.

If i was to put my 75 i would have to put her on her to make sure she went to a good home. They are both old now need a bit of loving

I am torn here.

Thanks Guys

Chris, tackle the situation a different way. What is actually wrong with the Civic's brakes? Does it really need all those parts?

It depends on what you value in a car, and which you want to keep.
The Civic (unless very new) is likely to be a lot simpler than the 75 - thus (in theory) less to go wrong.
However the 75... is a 75. Personally I'd stick with the 75, and if you're stuck I can try and help with pricing on a pair of arms.

I had to choose between my MG ZS and my ZT-T... you can guess which won.

Default Many thanks

The Civic does need a new calliper new disks and pads they were incinerated.

That's it in a nutshell Simon. Mot is in 3 weeks.

I appreciate all your insight. Was thinking of putting the 75 on a sorn. She is kept in my garage out of the elements. Just keep her ticking over and do when i can.

The retail and scrap value of both no i am not going there.

Hi Guys

I will do that. Put one in the freezer. Yes my Civic is the same as the 45 and MG S so the parts some of them are inter changeable.

Thanks for the advice.

Take care

Incinerated? I’m still confused Chris. How can cast iron calipers and discs burn? And are you talking about all four wheels? Can you explain how this strange situation occurred please?

But whatever the history, if you want to run two cars and cannot afford garage bills then the solution is simple. Join the rest of us and maintain them yourself!

Hi Simon

I pulled over and the offside calliper was binding on the disk. Not quite incineration there was a lot of smoke and the smell was of burning.

I wish i could do it myself. I have autism which involves anything mechanical I'm lost. I know how it works and what does what don't ever ask to take anything apart.

Its frustrating as hell.

Thanks for your insight is is very much appreciated.
