Default wet carpet

hi all i have a 1.8 connie on a w plate that has a wet carpet in the rear passenger side footwell,i have no sunroof and the door seals are all good.the strange thing is the over mat is saturated but the carpet underneath is not,it is slightly damp but not as wet as the overmat.its almost as if something has been spilled over the mat.the front is dry.

Hi,
There's others with the same problem.
Have a look at my "well that ruins Monday" post to see some examples and possible solutions.

Edit: Good Luck!

mine was a bit easier to solve than usual,on her return from work the wife was asked if she had noticed the wet carpet in the rear which is when she owned up to spilling a large coke from muccy d's a few hours earlier.doh.

1. Check plenums (urgent)

If the wetness continues, and it happens that your heater comes on..

2. Leaking heater matrix (less urgent)

Plenum check very wise, but this is the rear of the car not the front and he does say that a bottle of coke was the culprit
