Forgotten Circlip, Holy Smoke
Dear friends,
when having changed the inner gaiter on the right hand driveshaft on my Rover 75 2.5 l, 2001 I could to my horror see that the circlip was still on my bench just a bit hidden so I forgot to mount it on the edge of the shaft at the end of the splines. Now, how important is this circlip? It was quite stiff to knock the joint back in place. Regards Anders |

Anders is that the right hand side as you are sitting in the car or as you are at the front looking into the engine bay?
To avoid any confusion, the short driveshaft needs to have the circlip fitted, and the extended driveshaft doesn't have a circlip fitted. If you have left the circlip out of the short driveshaft fit it - you don't want the shaft popping out when driving. It isn't a big job as everything will be free if you have just had it apart. |
