Default Contemplating a Lotus...

Hi all

My dad, being a Lotus specialist (including track prep) is whispering in my ear that I should pick up an Elise (S1 with the 1.8K). He reckons I should look for a high miler or write off that I could drop my 300bhp K turbo in and then fit the Exige body kit.

I've got to admit, I am tempted. Power to weight would make it quite the beast plus the fact that I'd be far less likely to make a loss on it when it comes to moving it on. Trouble is, I'd have to get rid of the ZT which would be a shame - my mileage is far too low to warrant it (sub 2k per annum). It'd be quite a change going from a comfy cruiser to a bare minimum pocket rocket.

What are your thoughts? Would you be tempted?

James

PS, here's what it'd look like...

I looked at an Elise and vx220 and settled on a boxster to me it was more comfortable. Lotus isn't an all year round car but an animal would be fun though

Default I really llike Lotus cars.

For personal reasons that my close friends here will know, they have a special place in my heart. However my thoughts are to put that 300BHP lump into an unassuming but lightened '75 and have a street sleeper... Has anyone else done this with a '75?

I had a former CID car; a disappointing grey Peugeot 406. Although it was a four pot, somehow it would pass even the 3.0 V6 variant. And SEAT Leon Cuppa. And BMW 330...

Or so I heard....

Obviously I never raced anyone!

Hi James after all the work on your ZT it would be a shame to let it go. Whilst the Lotus would be a unique driving experience as another poster said its not an everyday car, although your mileage suggests that wouldn't be a problem. Personally I'd stick with your 'Q' car ZT but if the call of a two seater gets louder I'd consider an MGF VVC a much underrated car, light agile and brisk. Neither my R75 Tourer, 260 or MGF VVC do many miles a year, no more than 6,000 in total for the three of them I love driving them for their individual quirks and traits especially the 260 and F.
