Well that is a first! assuming you were not bouncing off something solid at the time
Bound to have happened to someone eventually Were there any previous warnings on the dash? I remember reading in some cars (tourers) they had a wiring or earthing fault which had something to do with the rear tensioners causing a fault code or lamp, not sure where I read that though |

Whatever the cause, I'd be thanking the management that it was not drivers side steering wheel bag. Must have been pretty damn scary.

A couple of years ago I had this at work on an Accord, it turned out that the customer had driven into something hard a few weeks earlier and had damaged the impact sensors. IIRC

What was the car doing when the air bag went off and how old is the car? I ask as there were some similar incidents in the early life of the ZT. The car was, under certain load conditions, seeing a pulse that replicated an impact and the DCU deployed a seat airbag because it thought it was having a side impact.
This was caused by hitting a lateral load at a fairly decent speed. This was first noticed during the launch of the ZT's at Pembry as hitting or going over a kerb on the track as you would when racing was enough to trigger the side impact pulse. If your car saw a pulse similar to this, it could have triggered it. For example a nasty pothole when cornering etc. Nic
