Great to see another one of our cars being saved - well done.
I haven't done anything else, other than clean it all out for now just to get the water and all the leaves and wildlife out, with it being in the garage it wont get anymore down there. Though it will be something I will fit before it hits the road again.

Just thought I would write a quick update.

Went down to my lock up yesterday. Did a bit more digging into the car. Tried my best to soak up some of the water out of the foot wells. Removed the back seat base, and found about 2-3 inches of water in the indents underneath.

I have decided after this that I need to pull out the whole interior and carpet. I think my target it to get Puddles ready for POL2020 is a little optimistic. I want to do this properly and right, so I am starting to compile a list of parts. I think the carpet is beyond saving, if I can find a reasonable interior I think I may just swap it over.

So my list so far is:

Interior carpet.
Boot Carpet.
Driver side kick panel.

I need to get the bits for the headgasket, however I am considering fitting an MG 6 N series instead, just to future proof her a bit.

Much work to come! Hopefully back on the road in 2020

If you're going to change the carpet, good excuse to go back to the Mk1 carpet. I used a sunroof drain leak as an excuse to remove the cheaper Mk2 one in my ZT and replace with the better earlier one, and it wasn't really as daunting as I though it would be. It looks and feels a lot better.

Update on Puddles:
Been to the lock up and started pulling the interior out. I need to pick the seats up to being home to give them a good shampoo. To be honest, I think the pictures speak for themselves..... The last picture is the water under the rear carpet. I am off work for a few days after today so will run through with a more detailed update.

Well done Admiral, a big job to take on. Tracing the water leak affecting the rear carpets will be quite an exercise, and wish you good luck in finding the source.

The sunroof drains failed on my 75 last year. I emptied over 5 litres of water out of the floorpan and carpet. All sorted now but it's an arduous task. I elected to remove the front seats but leave the carpet in, lifting it up from the back and sides to get underneath. I sucked the water out of the floorpan, squeezing the water out of the sponge then leaving a dehumidifier in the interior for two days before refitting.

Just a little update:

I drove down to the lock up today, just give everything the once over -to be honest its not in the best of spots, however the rent is very cheap- I hadnt been there since my last update in January.
I was slightly de-motivated when I noticed a piece of the front O/S coil spring on the floor next to the car.

I need to make a list of what I need, and what I need to do. But I am scared to see the length of the list. I am ordering a cheap 12 volt wet and dry vacuum off Amazon, I arent expecting great things from it. But as long as it last until the water is out I will happy.

I’ll raise you on the water stakes 🤣

Here’s a pic from many years ago on a 75 I had, it’s a lot of work but they can be dried out and cleaned up.

Good luck!

Is that what happens when you play with a 75/ZT in the bath?
