Default How To Remove Alloy Wheel Center Caps

Cant believe the tosh you read on this simple task.

Its a 5 minute job that does not -

1. Require you to remove the wheels
2. Screw a self tapper into the old cap
3. Prise them off with a small screwdriver, thus damaging the edges
4. Buy a special 'sucker'

Here's what you do, and I'm sure I'm not the first to use this method, but it just came to me after about a minute or so thinking time.

Get an old plastic Aerosol lid (or something similar).

Cut 4 pieces of automotive tape

Stick one piece to each center cap

Peel off the backing and stick the Aerosol lid to the cap, with the tape

Give it a gentle pull, and your cap comes away with the lid

Twist the cap off the lid and repeat for the other 3 wheels

Replace or refurbish

your tape must be very strong, mine would not pull the centre caps off.

Because there isn't one?

I'm talking about the 57mm diameter ones. Otherwise I would have used the correct tool.

Yes it is. Its the 3M automotive tape.
The same stuff that's on the back of car badges and trim etc. Same stuff you stick registration plates on with, rather than drill holes in your car body.

Pulls the caps off no mither.
