Blowout
A few minutes after leaving home to go to work yesterday afternoon I had a front tyre blowout at about 40 mph.
There was no feedback whatsoever from the car and I thought it was a rear that had gone, I pulled up and went to have a look at the rear tyres and they were both fine. It was the front nearside which had gone which really surprised me, and I don't have runflat's, but then was it because they were continental tyres fitted and not some cheaper brand?. The inner sidewall blew out probably because of the state of the roads around Eastleigh, some of the potholes are ridiculous and its probably one of these that has damaged the integrity of the sidewall on an earlier encounter. |

At least you are ok. Tyres can be replaced.

This happened a few years ago, just after I'd got the 260, before I'd got round to getting a spare wheel. Hit something on the M77 just south of Abington. Didn't pull to the side or anything but car didn't feel right so reduced speed the mile or so into the services. Discovered the flat front tyre (can't remember which side) and put the puncture sealant in which promptly came straight back out again, felt the inside of the tyre and discovered a hole I could stick my finger through! Happened around midnight, had to wait 2 hours for a flatbed, nearly 4am when we got home, sourced a spare wheel as soon as I got up. This is what I discovered after taking the wheel off.

No chance of a broken front spring having caused that?

I'll post a pic up of the tyre when I get it back from the tyre guy I use.

Nope, hit something, felt it. Didn't see whatever it was as it was dark, around midnight. No damage other than one well knackered tyre. Lucky as I was doing 70 (ish).

Always remember not to use your brakes when you have a puncture until you are going slow..
