I'm finally back on the road today after the car passed the MOT with no advisories.

That's surprising given that it failed on the front discs 5 years ago and it's still running on the same discs today. I did fit new ones to get the pass but then transferred them to the diesel 75 which really did need them.

I also got about 12 advisories a couple of years ago and apart from the new tyres and a track rod end fitted since then, all the other advisories have "disappeared"

Checking the mileage for the year I covered 2840 miles since my last MOT

I just hope that the weather picks up and I can maybe get out for a nice run somewhere.

Since my last post a lot has happened, First of all I purchased a very low mileage a Mini Mayfair automatic. This has been polished up and placed in storage until I decide what to do with it.
Next came the purchase of another 75, this time a Connoisseur SE with almost every conceivable factory extra including personal line trim.
My intention for this car is to restore it and run it therefore my existing V6 which has been well documented on here may come up for sale.

Finally, just four weeks after getting four new doors fitted to my Jaguar XF it was written off ( category B) after a young male driver who took me out on a corner.
As I write we have reached a settlement on the XF and I’m currently driving a very nice Volvo V90 but this will have to be returned soon.
At this time of year we are in no real hurry to jump into a replacement for the XF so we are going to look around to see what’s best for our needs.

I could always put the Mini or the other 75 on the road for the boss.

I’ve updated this topic to show the photos again (hopefully) by inserting ~original into the photo tag.

Meantime it’s full steam ahead with my second 75, a Zircon Silver Connoisseur SE 2.5 V6
So far I’ve refurbished the front and rear suspension in a similar fashion to my current V6. Ive also fitted new brakes and a donor set of Union Alloys which I have also refurbished.
I’m just about to re fit the rear sub frame then I will be fitting a new set of tyres to the Unions and finally re spraying both front & rear bumpers.
I will also have to change the belts again to be safe and give the car a full engine & transmission service.

Prior to the mechanical work I completely stripped the interior out and re covered the headliner and door cards. I have also converted the passengers seat to give me height adjustment.

This car was just too nice to let go and as it has blue personal line trim plus almost every factory fitted extras like memory seats, tailored mats, rear blind, electric sunroof, Harmon Kardon sound system, sat nav, traction control, headlamp wash etc.

I’ve owned my current V6 for about seven years now and spent quite a lot in mods to it which include a duplex stainless exhaust and trailer made walnut door capping but assuming everything goes ok with the SE I’m going to run it for a change and sell the current Wedgewood one.

So watch this space guys.

Default Almost Ready

My project 75 is almost ready for the road.
I’ve spent about 2k on this car and that’s not including the purchase price. It’s now sitting with four new tyres on refurbished 16” Unions, full suspension overhaul with new rear springs, new brake discs and pads and a full service on engine which included new cam belts, water pump and thermostat, auto box fluid changed and even the power steering and brake fluid changed.
I’ve still got over a month tax & MOT left on my current Wedgwood V6 at which time I will tax the Zircon Silver and transfer my personal plate.

I’ve still got the air con to be re charged and the supply wire for my Angel Eyes to connect. I’m also going to replace the rear number plate as my current 75 smiley plate has a flaw showing through the yellow reflective backing. I’m going to get the S Type Jaguar shaped one as I think it sits better having tried one in place. I’m getting the same for the back of the Merc as the current aluminium one has sharp edges and already I’ve cut my hand when washing the car.

So I will be advertising the Wedgewood soon but I’m not giving it away as the condition it is in and work I’ve done will reflect on my my price. I will of course be selling it with a fresh MOT when the time comes.

Sometimes I think I’m crazy to have spent all this money on a car that’s just the same but it’s not really as the Zircon has quite a lot that the Wedgewood one doesn’t have especially the sunroof which I missed not having.

Here’s a shot of the Zircon as she currently looks.

Can anyone spot what no one else has on their 75 (to my knowledge)
Sorry Walter you’re excluded as you know what it is.

Hi Jim!
I have not only the projectors in headlights and the grill like MG`s
Everything else is on my car, incl. the chrome trim under the fog lights and zircon painted down grill.

PS: But the picture size is too small to see what kind of bugs are smashed in front - maybe there is some endemic species

Looking good jim.
That’s an admirable amount of work you’ve done there.
It’s not a single centre mounted windscreen wash, by any chance?

It has a reflection on the door... not many zircons have that.😬

If it’s not an extended wing mirror, then I give up.🙄
