Default noisy exhaust note

We have recently purchased a 2.0 v6 2002 with a recently fitted exhaust 4months old but it drones and it spoils the ride as its very annoying at speed any cures would be appreciated as buying a replacement might be better or even worse many thanks Rod

My observations and experience tell me, the quietest systems are the ones MGR fitted at the factory. Meeting that standard is expensive and was reflected in the prices Xpart charged (and may still be charging) for the OEM components. Few aftermarket systems will match them for 'silencing'.Certainly not the conventional stainless systems from the usual names. I guess what Xpart/Rimmer currently offer as OEM parts will be the best options available. I understand the factory fits were supplied by Bosal, but whether all Bosal systems are equally good I don't know. Bosal are available from the usual exhaust outlerts.

I've had various rear boxes on my V6 and spent many a happy morning swapping them over in the hope of finding the best one. Bottom line is they all drone between about 1400 and 2200 rpm (which is where a V6 auto spends most of its time unless you're on the motorway) unless you're going to pay three figures for an original. For the Bosal I've currently got fitted the flip side is that it roars beautifully under acceleration and burbles in a quite interesting fashion as it comes down through the gears from speed.
