Thanks Mark!
I love this car to bits! I've not driven it since November last year. I was so happy to go for a drive yesterday.

I bought a new ND filter this week.
Finally I have managed to play around with it. I'm quite pleased with the results. What do you think? A fast flowing stream in Siccaridge wood, Gloucester, England. by Philip Davies, on Flickr

The water looks milky. No more thanks left from my quota, apologies Phil. Is that how it was, or is that the effect from the filter? Overall a lovely photo. The photos of the car are great and I love the drama in the dark skies.

It's a neutral density filter that basically restricts the amount of light that goes into the camera, so you have to use a slow shutter speed. Mounted on a tripod, everything else stays still, but the moving water becomes smooth and as you say, milky.

Like these, I like the effect in some circumstances.

Nice shots there Paul.
I tried this filter at the seaside on Sunday but it wasn't giving me enough darkness to get a slow enough shutter speed. What filter are you using?

OK, I'll need to get one of those then. Mine isn't that strong.

I have an ND4 and ND10 and on a really bright day you can always stack them to achieve a lower shutter speed.
Don't shoot too wide though as you risk vignetting

Thanks Jeff,
This one and the others on my Flickr page were taken with my 18-200 tamron lens. The filter I bought was another variable ND filter. It had great reviews and is actually made with optical glass. I really like it but will get a fixed filter at a later date. I really need to think about getting another lens but can't really justify the cost at the moment. Soon be macro season anyway!
