2.0 petrol fuel pumps
My car has been taken to the garage because she wouldn't start. The garage got back to me & said he's quite confident it is the fuel pump that has failed. Now, what I would like to know from you good people is if the fuel pump in the manual & automatic cars is the same item. I've seen a fuel pump for sale close to me but it said it was for a 2.0 Manual. Don't want to go spending money to find out its a different pump.

It won't be the pump, they hardly ever go wrong, do a search for 'orange clip' on here, I bet your filter housing is separating!

It's got the early type of filter, so doesn't suffer with the filter problem. The fuel pump wasn't evan priming up, so it was either a duff fuel pump or no power getting to the pump (fuse/relay). Thanks for your input but all sorts of things have been suggested on a different thread which I started when the car initially failed to start (kv6 won't start) if you would like to read it.

Multimeter on plug at the fuel pump end then, see if you are getting voltage.

Thanks t-cut, I knew I could rely on you. Merry Christmas
Hi Trikey, I tried the electrical tests. A bit of an amateur I'm afraid. We did get some voltage on one of the pins but the end result was inconclusive really. It's in the right place now though to get sorted. Got fed up of all the faffing around with no end result. A merry Christmas to you too. Last edited by Wayne B; 9th December 2013 at 16:41.. |
