Default Highline GPS

I wondered if there are any other reasons that the GPS disc reader in the boot will not shut down? Is it just that the unit is faulty or could there be other reasons away from the disc reader?

I have followed the "re-birth" thread and got a really nasty looking unit to work, but sadly it does not shut down (I have waited to see if the light goes out) and tried a really clean unit and that does not shut down either.

Also, what bit fails when they do not shut down?

Thank you

The red light should go out after you lock the car, wait a couple of mins and it should turn off.

And then I'll hold you in my dreams

It has to remain undisturbed for several minutes, during in which time - any disturbance will wake it back up. Any door being open etc. will do it. I wonder if you have an FBH and if that failing would retrigger it?

Failing FBH's are known for causing several issues.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I have left it undisturbed, as it it a tourer I have been able to see the unit through the side windows.

What is an FBH?

Thanks for the reply

Ahh, fuel burning heater, I am referring to the v6 petrol, rather than our diesel (which does not have a fbh).
