H9 main beams
Hi everyone. I wonder if there's anyone out there who can help? I tried in Halfords yesterday to upgrade / improve the output of the main beams on my '05 Conn SE tourer. They seem alarmingly dim to me.
After much to-ing and fro-ing with different types, the young guy (who in fairness seemed to know what he was talking about) said that it had been factory-fitted with H9 bulbs, which are not what the guides suggest should be on it. Unfortunately, Halfords don't do them. Any suggestions what I need to get a really powerful light, and where to find them? I even seem to be failing on ebay! Any advice or info would be gratefully received! Nick. |

Think so - I'm pretty sure what the Halfords guy said. Am I right in getting the impression that H9s are unusual, though? Can't find Halogen or Xenons.

H9's easily found, but, the main manufacturers,ie Osram,Phillips, don't do a high power bulb for that fitment.Or you could go LED,but that's another story

I got my H9 bulbs from eBay, they were sold as philips but we're fake when they arrived.
You can tell as the end of the bulb didn't have the coated tip. They are outstandingly bright though. So I was pleased all the same. |

Having said that, H9 halogen bulbs are easily found. In fact they're all halogen anyway, but some may have a whiff of xenon to brighten them up. |

The ones I bought were to replace some blue versions, they were like a candle in a jar.

Thanks guys. I'll pursue ebay! If anyone's got a link to something, it would be much appreciated!

Headlight bulbs
Osram on balance seem to be the more reliable. Their latest are called nightbreakers but don't know if they come in H9's
I don't find a problem with the better grade bulbs in the high beam light. The problem is I find I can only rarely use them due to oncoming traffic all the time
