MG ZT-T 190+, air filter system part numbers
Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with a problem that I am having trying to sort out my car. I have a ZT-T 190+ and the previous owner fitted a cheap chinese cone filter onto it, with a bit of flexi pipe. The problem I have is there is a constant build up of condensation in the pipe, which I have been told is the reason for the white smoke that is forever coming out of the tailpipe. There is no loss of coolant, and only negligible amounts of what the mechanic called mayonnaise in the oil. The car runs well with only a bit of a splutter at the beginning, and if it wasn't for the white smoke you wouldn't know there is anything amiss. I decided to return it to the original air filtering system, but I am having trouble in finding bits. I have a box, a pipe that fits to the box and then to the engine bit, sorry, I am not mechanically gifted, and the filter. The problem is there is a large elongated hole in the box, that I believe coincides with a hole in the bracket, but there is no elongated hole in the bracket. A picture on Rimmer Bros shows the bracket should have two small round holes on top, and an elongated one, also on top, whereas the bracket that is on the car has three small round holes with grommets. Rimmers say the bracket is no longer available so I am somewhat stuck now. Does anyone know a part number for the bracket, on Rimmers V6 2.5 MG ZT air cleaner diagram it is the number 9 part, but then there is also the pipe, number 6 part that I am having trouble in sourcing, and I was hoping someone might know of the part numbers, and if there are any places out there that sells these type of items.
I apologise for the long winded route to get to this point, and if you have read thus far, I thank you. I am just at the point where I am fed up with it all as I have done nothing but pay out on the car since buying it. Alan |

The 190 has a different set up to all the other V6 variants. There is no elongated transition in the bracket, but an 80.0mm hose connection that connects to the inner wing intake. The upper air box also omits the trumpet.

Hi Allan.
If you click on the link below, you can inform us what parts you have already, and what parts you may need to put back as original. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001948 1 As Ben states above the MGZT T & MGZT 190 has a different airbox set up, from the 2.5 V6 Rover. 190 set up. 2 3 4 5 The 190 box will have an out let for 80mm tubing which goes to a trumpet that hangs inside and under the front N/S wheel arch, known has the shannon tube. 6 7 8 9 10 11 quite a simple set up to be honest, hope the pics help

Thank you to everyone who has been such a help, it is very much appreciated. I was sold an airbox with two round pins, and the elongated hole, and I have the number 3 pipe, that is it basically. So I need to get the shannon, and the correct box I assume.
Thank you again, it ha made something that was as clear as mud an awful more clarified. The guy I bought the box from told me it was for the V6 2.5L 190+, oh well, you live and learn I guess. |

Hello Arctic, thank you for everything, the pictures are an actual godsend, I can work with wood fine, but I am not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. I assume the picture you posted is what I need to be on the lookout for. I must say that the assistance on this has been second to none from all concerned. This has been my sixth MG ZT, and my second ZT-T, and this has been the one I really want to keep, so thank you again.

Hello, are you the gent that is selling the bits on Ebay then, if you are then I am going to need everything I suppose. If you aren't, then thank you for pointing out the page, I am sure it will prove to be priceless.

Hello, bit of an update, I approached the people on Ebay about the bits I need to sort out the air system, and it is all sold. They must be doing a roaring trade there though, as I have contacted them four times now for different bits, and everything is "sorry sold", I don't seem to be having much luck with this one.
