75CDTI Classic Front springs
Hi,
I have a 75 CDTI Classic. One front spring broken. I propose to replace both but the information sticker under the back seat is illegible. Has anyone any idea how I can find out the correct springs to use. I would be most grateful. |

75 cdti classic
Hi, I have a broken front spring on the front & am going to replace both springs. I have looked at the sticker under the back seat & it is illegible so I have no idea which springs are likely to be applicable. Has anybody any idea how I can find this out, please.

I've read on a other post that if you take a photo of sticker using a flash, the text can be read on the photo.
The Rimmer Bros site has some info on springs and dampers too: https://rimmerbros.com/c/MG-Rover-75...le-Information

75CDTI Classic Front springs
I have just recently purchased a pair of after market springs from a company in St Helens Lancashire called Whiston Motor factors Ltd - I paid £45-95 for them inc post- they said the post would be 3/4 working days and they arrived in two. They were very helpful - I had one spring break which I have now replaced and am looking at replacing the other next week. While they are not OEM springs they look OK, but obviously the proof will be in the pudding so to speak, as I start to use them - this will be my second set on the car having only done limited miles with the set I am now replacing - Although I try to avoid potholes the roads around here are terrible and at times become unavoidable

Whiston motor factors is not far from me. I have been there many times. They are a small shop on the high street, and they do stock known good brands, but their cheap stuff is just that, from personal experience, poorly coated springs that rust quickly, rear ones that leave you really struggling to refit the isolators, even with a lubricant. Given what can happen if springs go when moving, I wouldn't fit cheapo's to mine or anyone else's car. Never mind the inconvenience when they snap standing still.
Lee.

Not as cheap as some places, but we have top-quality springs for the 75 Diesel here: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/rov...oon-and-tourer

When my Tourer broke a front spring 18 months ago I replaced the pair of springs with new along with the shock absorbers & the top-mounting bushes. Since all the parts were 19 years old I didn't want to have to replace a leaky shocker or worn-out top-mount later & pay ALL the same labour costs all over again. The specification sticker should be under the rear passenger seat. But the spring specifications are specific to the engine/bodyshell/marque combination. The front springs are different for each different engine type. The rear springs are different between the saloon & tourer & the tourer has the additional self-levelling option & the 75 & the ZT each has its own set of spring combinations, the ZT having a slightly firmer ride than the 75.! (On a personal note, when I purchased the 3 pairs of components for mine I bought the springs off eBay & the shox & top-mounts from DMGRS. 18 months on I have had no issues with those purchases) |
