soaking wet carpets
Is there any way of drying out my carpets?, after a soaking due to blocked plenum and sunroof drains the foam under the carpets is litterally dripping. Unfortunately i can't take them out as the car(ZT) Is used every day. Any suggestion welcome. Ian

To dry the carpet out you are going to have to take it out of the car , the foam underlay acts like a sponge and absorbs a huge ammount of water which will never dry out in the car . I took the carpet out of mine and then hung it up in the garage and let the water drip out over time, it would dry out faster if you could hang it up outside in the garden and let the sun and wind work its magic on it , no reason why the car couldn't be used with the carpet removed, just put a temporary carpet in the footwells to protect the wiring to the seats etc .

having a sunroof even now seems a bit ironic; just did the drain according to Arctic's excellent instructions. Luckily I have only dampness which should pull out with the aircon. I have minis and when these leak the out option is better although I have had some success with a powerful dehumidifier. I think with the sponge foam this would not be successful!

Vacuum it! That should remove some of the moisture.

You can take them out and refit the seats and centre console and drive without the carpets whilst they are drying. I did this and had them out for a few weeks. Just takes time to remove the carpet and refit it.
