Default Viz Motors??

Although I really like to driving my LWB, there is some thing about its performance not quite sure about. Its a V6 Auto, the engine doesnt seem to do it justice, could it be the motors, any way of checking.
Cheers.

Could of course be lots of things, but the VIS motors are good starting points being notorious! I built myself a tester using info similar to that here:
http://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/sh...ad.php?t=26976

If you Google search on VIS Tester diagram Rover 75 and look at the images too you will start to understand how to test them, what to expect and what can be done to fix them. Look at the textual results as well as the images.

Its all cleaning , resoldering and fixing the loose microswitches 90% of the time. I've got it down to 20 mins a motor now! Done about 20. Generally only about 1 in 5 is unfixable (damaged gearwheel then usually; sometimes massive oil contamination wrecking the rather iffy motor).

The butterfly valve is often stiff and freeing it up, though messy and a bit tricky, helps an lot.

Hi Rev, the wife's ZT V6 Viz was diagnosed as faulty on a T4 health check. I sent it off to one of the members here on the forum who refurb's and repairs them.

Good morning Julien, I have a VIS tester which Stocktake Dave sold 3 years ago. Your welcome to use it, to see if yours are working or not. If it's urgent, I can send it in the post. PM if needed

Stocktake can upgrade the VIS motors for you Jules.

I got ones for mine fitted with their own push to test buttons.
A great upgrade for any V6 owner.

Thank you Julien. Dave auctioned off the VIS tester. I think it went for £100 to very good cause, a mutual cancer charity we both support. The VIS are relatively easy to change over. As Bob can confirm, the latest made by Dave is a a very useful upgrade to have in the car

I'll second that Last time I stripped a non-working pair of motors I tried cleaning them out by spraying copious quantities of WD40 into the motors ; the amount of mucky goo that came out was very surprising No wonder the motors were stuffed ! Let them drain off , put them back and they worked fine !

Trouble with a motor that has suffered excess oil ingress is getting it to run below a current draw of around 65Ma, any higher than this and you are vulnerable to blowing a track on the pcb's. This is why two of us got together some years ago and redesigned the pcb's to be stronger with wider tracks and help give longer life. Along with other extensive modifications, it all adds up to promote longer life.

You will be surprised how many different potential failure points there are on a vis motor, some are unique to the Power, some are unique to the Balance and other problems effect both.
I'm surprised that people can apparently resurrect 80 to 90% of the motors as in my experience not many of the motors contaminated with oil will run below 65Ma for any length of time. It may run but IT WILL FAIL AGAIN.
Lost count of the number I have refurbished now but it is far, far in excess of 500

Hi Dave.

How much for a worst case scenario, checking them both over and in particular, turn round time please.
