Default Check your power steering pipes

I had a severed pipe on the low pressure side,it had been chafing against the crank pulley. Dropped all the fluid and the power was lost. Luckily I was on the caravan site, called AA this morning and patrolman fixed leak with some " crackling tape" and zip ties . When I get home I. can remove the damaged section of pipe, and replace it with a new piece and some hose clips.

Mine split just to left of that union Mike, will it be ok to cut the pipe to the right of the union, and disconnect the plastic plug on the other end, then replace the whole section with rubber hose as mentioned in my opening post?
