Really depends if you install alot of programs & so on, then remove them which results in leaving redundant files on your hard drive. I'm always trying out new programs & removing them if they are of no use so they work well in my scenario.

Many thanks for all of your comments.
I have been having right fun and games tonight getting Adobe Fireworks running, as I am up against a deadline on a project that I am working on. Solved the problem, short term, by setting up another user account with administrator rights (not that the existing one didn't have it ). Everything is working a treat now I will revisit the registry issues when I am less tired Thanks again Guys, you have given me stuff to have a look at and try out

I've used tuneup utilities for some years now, very good and you can download a trial version.

Try Revo Uninstaller , a free programme that will remove all registry entries as it removes the unwanted programme.
