The standard advice is to fit the Freelander diesel slave. They cost half the price of OEM and are reliable and robust. I know there are various concentric slave cylinders available round and about (LUK for example) but the Freelander unit is being fitted regularly by MGR specialists. That's what I will fit (as and when) anyway.

Will this fit all model derivatives though? Ie V6s?

As far as I remember any Freelander 2.0 or 2.2 litre diesel slave will be OK. Yes it will fit your V6 and all other members of the 75/ZT range. The Freelander pipework is in metal and for some 75/ZT engines may have a slightly different shape. However, this can be easily reshaped (I understand). If not, all hydraulic pipes are removable via a split pin lock and can be interchanged.

It isn't as essential as understanding the coupling system. There's a locking ring which must be pressed into the coupling while the two halves are pulled apart. It can be done with a thin bladed screwdriver. I think you can buy the tool if necessary, it's virtually a plastic throw away.

Thanks tc, is it 2.0/2.2d from a similer year as the rover. Also ive priced the one listed for my car from my nearest euro car parts, with a but of trade its 69+the vat, sO i assume its a cheap aftermarket, if the freelander ist much cheaper i mite just go for this one, what you think?
