Default Left hand indicator and number plate light

Dropped into my local auto electrician as both are playing up.

When indicating left the lights flash too fast and then sometimes perform as normal. Got out of the car and all 3 lights are working. He says it might be an intermittent bad earth or the body control unit. He reckons they are unavailable now. Is that correct?

Of the 2 number plate lights only one works. I have a suspicion there is water getting into the one that does not work and despite changing the bulb its absolutely dead.

Its booked in on Thursday but do I have to fear the indicator problem???

The number plate light will be a crack in the track on the pcb behind the boot plinth. Just solder a wire over it and forget it. This should be a quick and cheap job but find a member trader here to do it, someone who knows these cars, it doesn't really need a auto electric specialist, just someone with a soldering iron.

The indicators advice sounds wrong as well, more than likely a bulb connection. Just checking all 3 bulbs may reveal something. I wouldn't think you'll have any difficulty sourcing a light control module from one of the traders here if it does turn out to be that, but I think it needs coding to the car if you do change it so you need a rover guy anyway.

Spent 30 minutes with the auto electrician yesterday.

Indicator was a bad earth.

Number plate light was a bad earth. Can you see a common problem?

Wired up my LED lights in the boot too. All inc it was £20 cash.

That has to be a result.
Got to be worth a score for someone who knows what they're doing to solve two/three problems with no parts required.
