After reading about how other members made a tool for clearing the plenum drains I had a look in the shed.
There were some plastic tubes that came off an old cheapo garden frame that my wife uses instead of canes. There was also some net curtain wire. The tube was just the right size. A piece of the curtain wire threaded through completed the tool. An eye screwed into each end made sure that the wire would not come out and get lost, but the eye goes through the plenum drain without a problem. It is not the most elegant of tools, but lives in the boot and does the job. Total cost - nothing! Fifer

Put the Intercooler pipe back on the EGR as its decided to pop off 3 times today , despite being on and OK since 2014 ,
Nice new Clip , hopefully that should sort it.. there 3 joints all with the same clips yet just the EGR end comes off?

Removed the rear bumper and sealed the side vents in my efforts to find the leaks in my car.
Conditioned the leather seats and checked the plenum was dry, which it was, surprising really after all this rain! |

today i removed the scuttle panel to check and clean out the plenum chamber and replaced the pollen filter. surprisingly the plenum was cleaner than the rest of the car at the moment and all drains were clear.

Maybe the egr is clogged up, so pressure is building up on the intercooler side?

Chained regulator on my alternator today but still did not charge so took the old one off and put a new Lucas £120 alternator on all works great now.
All done from the top of my CDTI was fairly easy.

What I did today
For the first time my trusty 75 cdt let me down today with a dead battery. The cold weather I reckon, fine yesterday dead this morning. Did a bit of pricing round and got a new heavy duty Lucas one with 3 years warranty for less than £70 so not too bad really.

Went for a drive and then washed , rinsed and chamois leathered the limo--first time in weeks.
