There is a misconception on both forums that the intank pump is only there to equal the balance of fuel each side, this not the case it also supplys fuel to the bulkhead pump so a delivery is readily available instantly

correct , it pumps at a rate of around one third that of the UBP.

How you doin terry .????????

I know it does but in practise with enough fuel in the tank you can discount it when fault finding.

By the time I located a reasonably priced pump and fitted it 8 months and 20k miles had gone by and with keeping more than half a tank of fuel the car happily ran on the under the bonnet secondary pump, which by this time had already covered 180k.

Agree with the theory but when advising on fault finding always best to keep it as simple as possible.

Agreed but very little pressure arrives at the UB pump.
So little, that the UB pump will draw it's own supply providing there is sufficient fuel in both saddles of tank, even if Intank pump is duff.
