Brakes are a hell of a lot better in the V8. Drive that for a while then swap to the 1.8 and brake at the same point

haha! I started off in a 1.8 but found it completely gutless. I don't hoon around in my cars, but that 1.8 took the biscuit. I don't find the 4.6 particularly quick to be honest. My Supercharged one is, but the normal 260 isn't. They are a lovely drive though and the difference in that special 'feel' to the V8 car compared to the other variants is night and day.

Its a 1.8T I've got so got a bit more go, did have a 1.8 75, got you there just not in a hurry. I had plenty of time to get used to the 260, drove it up to Edinburgh from south of Leeds. Didn't feel in the least uncomfortable, stopped once in Berwick for fuel, didn't really need to. After all the horror stories I was surprised to get just shy of 28mpg. Couldn't explore the performance though, varying between rain, sleet and even full blown snow all the way up. I went to a T4 guy for a 2nd key in the same town as I bought it, the roads in his estate were hard compact snow, now that was "interesting"!

Yes Snow and the RWD V8 can make for interesting bedfellows! The problem is there's not enough weight over the rear wheels - but a couple of bags of sand in the boot can do the trick nicely!

Don't think the supercharger is really an option since Dreadnaught said no more Les. Don't fancy the idea of gathering the bits myself then finding someone to fit it. I know a couple of really good mechanics who I trust with my cars but fitting a supercharger is (more than) a bit outside their area of expertise. Apart from that to be honest I'm happy with the beast as it is.
