i suppose local meets could solve this problem in some ways, that is if someone with a double din is going to a meet others could have a look and listen, probably not too many of these mods yet but seem to be on the increase.

wow! That's fantastic, I never dared to get one because the operating system thing always seems a bit pants on Chinese stuff, I had no idea you could change it like that! That's brilliant! That would have saved me alot of money! I had a full alpine entertainment computer fitted in mine, if I'd have known it was possible to alter the software on them so easily I'd have probably got one of these!

Sounds like a reasonable unit for the money.
Just how easy is the MioPocket upgrade? Do it just run from a SD card? Very good description above, thanks for your effort.

It runs from the SD card every time you boot. It starts in about 15/20 seconds. Obviously you needn't start Mio every time you boot the DD unit i.e. you can point the nav setting to the igo8.exe file on the SD card and it will boot straight to Igo. If you want to run Mio just shut down the system and point the nav to the mio.exe file and it starts Mio.

I ended up selling this unit and buying a Kenwood DNX5220 (more on that when I have finished fitting it )
I really was reluctant to sell it but several individual little things about it finally made me put it on eBay again. Firstly to recap the good aspects - well made, good quality with a nice touch screen and colours etc, good Ipod menu. Obviously the fact that it was a fully functional (ish) car PC was a major plus. The little things that I wasn't happy with: - wouldn't fit my fascia without sawing up said fascia. - original GUI was crappy looking IMHO and really made the unit look cheap. This could be changed, apparently, but I sold it before I tried. - I'm no audiophile but the audio was only OK. My previous DD, the Eclipse, was a middle-of-the-road system (quality and expense wise) but the audio was much better on it. - a few other small fiddly things None of these complaints individually would have made me re-sell it but taken together I just wasn't happy with it. I suppose the reason I was most reluctant to re-sell it was the excellent Igo8 sat nav application. IMHO, it blows Tomtom and Garmin out of the water. The Igo has an excellent GUI thats easy to navigate around (pardon the pun :lol and great maps. I also found Igo much faster than Tomtom (on my Eclipse) or Garmin (on my new Kenwood). So its now sold and I have the Kenwood installed but not finished.

I have it installed but I need to fit the reversing camera and a few final tidy up jobs.

The only thing I have changed was to fit an AMP & SUB because the bass is not really very good. I think I will change the serial speakers too in the near future.
