Thanks for the link rouge. Checked it out and it seems US dollars (about £16.5k). That will be my pension money blown but it might be worth it ;-)

I don't think the Lightening T5 is still offered as part of the 'experience' so you can save your pension hoard for another R75 maybe

You are right. I was at Cape Town International AirPort last May and I know where the English Electric Lightning used to fly out from, near to the Executive Jet Terminal on the way to the end of the main runway. The flying in the Lightnings folded a few years ago. An alternative thrill is Shark cage diving in the bay, a must for anyone needing a buzz. It’s not something I find appealing.

Thanks but I've already got a 75 money pit which devours pension money.

Hi Phil,
Hope you both well after all the dramas, when I lived in Hout Bay the Lightnings and all the other jets often flew over, went to the hanger once to see them all. Such a tragedy a marvelous venture like that folded.
Cheers

Thank you Jennifer, I am in complete agreement with you over the loss of the English Lightning Experience, a blow to tourism, what a shame it didn’t work out. To fly at twice the speed of sound going up vertically must have been tremendous and what a view overlooking the cape from the edge of space.

We are hoping to fly to the Cape from Nairobi during the first week of April to check on the family farm and to catch up with friends, we could not go now as it would be too hot. The surgeon in the UK wants me to go to Vincent Polloti in CT for a scan on the leg bypass as Polloti is where he used to work, then I am to email him the results, it’s a monitoring scan. We seem to be over the worst of our ailments, thank goodness, how are you doing?

Lightning Vs U2 and Concorde.

Lightning intercepts U2 at 88,000 ft (16.6 miles) and can climb at 20,000 ft/minute

I posted a shortcut to the video "Lightning Vs U2 and Concorde" in the above post on my Desk top but for some reason it's not showing when viewed on my phone.

Here is the link for anyone else who cannot see it.
