Default Connecting CD Changer XQE105560 to Harmony

I have a 2000 Classic SE fitted with OEM Harmony Radio Cassette.

I have bought a used CD Changer - part number XQE105560 which is listed as compatible with the existing radio.

There is a mini-loom normally required to connect these two components, the infamous VUL100310, however I was wondering...

Since the CD changer was supplied with about 500mm of extra cable, which I presume was cut from a VUL100310 - see attached photo for wires which I take to be two twisted pairs for Audio L & R, a red/white/yellow K-Bus, a purple/pink +12v, and a black GRND - if I connect these to the correct pins (of the 10 pins) below the 17 pin connector on the rear of the Harmony - I should have a good working circuit...

RAVE shows the C1316 (black) connector on the Harmony - pin out is

1 Audio pair left +
2 Audio pair right +
3 Audio Earth - screened
6 Audio pair left -
7 Audio pair right -
All others are unused

Problems I forsee:

Which is pin 1 - top left or bottom right? - my multi meter should identify the live feed.

I cannot see the actual 'pin in' to the back of the plug that connects to the cd changer...

SD1too has been helpful with wiring/connector diagrams from RAVE

Thank you.

Here's the back of a Harmony showing 10 pins I hope to connect to... below the 17 pin BMW connector... Where I believe VUL100310 connects to the radio

Hi Kevin,

It's nice to hear from someone retaining the original factory audio system!

Are you asking about the pin configuration of black 10 pin connector C1316 for the CD changer?

If you don't mind sending me an e-mail address by P.M. I can give you the connector diagrams and pin table from RAVE as well as the wiring diagram for your model year 2000 car. That's probably the easiest way to sort this out!

Simon,

I completed this today, more details on the "What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today" thread...

I fitted it with a harness I sourced, so no wire splicing required.

Thanks for your help/encouragement.

Kevin
