Default Dull Headlights

Hi
I have a 03 prefacelift 75,and the dipped beam is appalling ,full beam is not too bad.Are all 75 headlights really poor,or should i be looking for something here. When i looked closely at the lights ,the lense appeared to look cloudy,is this the norm ?
Thanks

Lenses should not be cloudy ever. They are certainly not the brightest but not something you should notice much. You could try different bulbs to improve the available light.
I had a list of available bulbs but seem to have mislaid it for the moment.

These are just examples, Philips have a particularly good reputation.

Default I recommend Philips X-treme Power H7 bulbs

I recently bought the Philips X-treme Power H7 bulbs which are apparently 80% brighter. They are winning lots of awards including Which recently I believe.

They are not cheap (I think they cost about £30-£35 for 2) but its money well spent if it means you can see where you are going ! I got the H7 12v 55W for my 75 Contemporary. The reference number is 12972XPS2.

Hope that helps!

Bright bulbs are all very well until you have to face them coming the other way!
My 260 has the Xenons factory fitted. I can't say I'm a great fan of the harsh lighting they give out.

It's about time they rated bulbs in Candle power as wattage seems to be meaningless these days, i.e some 55 Watt bulbs are brighter than others.

Any one else dislike Xenons or is it just me? I'm sure I heard somewhere they where going to outlaw some types of modern bulbs, but can't remember which

At £400 per side OEM Xenons is not an upgrade I will be going for

I actually preffered the light quality of the projectors in my 260 to the Xenons in the 190 if I had to choose between the two

My personal belief is that you can't beat Xenons. The only way you get dazzled by an oncoming vehicle with xenons is if they're improperly aligned. Why pay £35 for a set of "high end" halogen bulbs that'll last 1-2 years when you can get xenons for around £45 and they'll last the life of the vehicle.

Its undoubtedly the most worthwhile upgrade I've done on my car and I include the synergy in this statement.
