If it has a radio remember that the frequency range used in the USA is NOT the same as here!

You are right Rich - I only found this out a few hours ago

The range is the same but the step is 200Khz. The European step is 50Khz. It is likely that some stations will not be received because of this.

I'm hoping that the set has a "secret" menu or something to change this, as the unit is being sold in both Europe and the US. It would be more cost productive to have the electronics of both units the same and make any changes necessary via software.

I'm going to email Eclipse and see is this possible.

Hope I haven't bought a turkey

Question

Not sure if any of you have a Nokia N series mobile phone and have downloaded www.smart2go.com and Nokia Maploader, which is free and will save you a load of money instead of buying a Tom Tom.

Anyway the point is that if you have, you will realise that all the functionality of a Tom Tom can be obtained on your Mobile Phone, the N95 phone has GPS built-in, and the others N series phones will give you a gps functionality via a bluetooth GPS device, this is what I use with my phone.

Do any of you ICE expert members know if you can transfer the mobile phone's screen output to the hi-line screen output?

Yes, that's right it's the step!

Only remember this as i was lookingto buy a CD/Radio from the states many moons ago. A lot of people have been caught out by this as you can get some, but not all, of the radio stations.

Bit annoyed about this as I should probably have known. My only excuse is that its my first time buying an item like this from the US. Hopefully it can be changed in the settings.

USPS tracking tells me that the parcel is in customs so I might have it tomorrow

I just didn't give the frequency step mis-match a thought

Nothing's ever easy is it?

Yeah, this has thrown a bucket of cold water on the whole thing.

I only found out this morning when comparing the specs of the 2227p with the 2210p.

Fingers crossed that this can be changed in the settings.

BTW, the 2227p seems to be retailing at about €1000

I like the idea as the tomtom and other satnavs can be fiddly to attach to the windscreen.

£700

How the devil can they justify a 300% higher price?

I haven't found any retailers yet for the AVN2227P - where did you see it please?
