Cool LED Side Lights

Hi can anyone advise me, after fitting led side lights even though they work i have side light bulb failure come up on my warning panel is this a common fault has anybody had this happen when fitting led side lights. Paul

LEDs don't draw enough current to allow the ECU to know they are working - i.e. the car computer checks to see that current is being drawn from each bulb to know it is working and as LEDs draw negligible current (as far as the ECU is concerned) it registers a bulb failure. You have to add a hefty resistor in circuit in order to draw the same amount of current a regular bulb would have used and all will be well again

Thanks for the speedy reply i put them in to try to match the light from my other lights. They are factory fitted zenons & it looked strange to me to see dim sidelights & very bright headlights. Paul

You can get kits from eBay or motoring stores to make your LEDs work properly.
