Unhappy Failure.

She failed the MOT. The handbrake isn't holding properly (actually according to the tester it isn't holding at all!) and there is excessive corrosion on a rear brake pipe (the one that goes over the tank). Apparently the other pipes have been treated (greased) and are in perfectly good order!
A bad day for us. And we're supposed to drive to Cornwall on Friday!
Mike is coming up tomorrow to put the car right, then fingers crossed she'll pass on Friday, just in time to go away.
AND there is a nail in the front offside tyre, the rear nearside tyre is near the legal limit and there is some 'play' in the steering...
Usual advisories about the child seat obstructing the seat belt being checked and the under shield obstructing access to the steering thingies. I know it might have been worse but it's still upsetting.

You've obviously not fitted enough bling to dazzle the tester ..... unlike someone else we know.

Thank you I'm keeping my fingers crossed... All in all the tester bloke said she was in good condition for her age and quite low miles (84k) too. Do cars age like cats and dogs - you know, one year to a car is like seven to a human?

Sorry to hear about the failure, hope you get it sorted.

So you got an advisory for having an under tray fitted?

Steve fitted the compensator at the Warrington meet! I think the brake shoes need adjusting to be honest.
The advisory says 'Under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components'.
As I said, all in all it could have been worse. It's just the timing that sucks big time. Curses!

Bad luck Dale. That couldn't have come at a worse time.

If you need any hand brake components, let me know as I've a box full of spares (shoes, adjusters, springs, etc).

I'll put the box in the car for tomorrow. I'll be at work in Preston till about five, so if Mike's looking at it before then and you need parts, ring me.

Thank you Mark. Mike's coming at lunchtime, so hopefully we'll know in good time if we need stuff. Cheers!
