Wahhhhh.... My fish have died!!
My friend called last (yep, I only have the one) evening and we sat out by the pond watching the fish, listening to the water fountain, and putting the world to rights...
We did notice the fish were popping up to the top regularly, but the fountain and the water cascade were both running nicely so I didn't think anything was wrong.... do'hhhhh... This morning I found five dead fish............. I have changed 75% of the water, mainly to cool it off, and increased the fountain and cascade flows, fingers now crossed for the lone survivor .. . ... |

You should look to get the water tested as a local aquatics shop, just in case its contaminated.
Have you used any weed killer recently?

Nice one Colvey, they would be welcome at my place any time.
I have sussed the problem, with such a small pond raised above ground level it got very warm, too warm to hold enuff oxygen for the fish, now I have dropped the temp by more than 20f the surviving fish is doing fine. If the temp gets up to the eighties again, I need to add cold water every day, and blast it in so it adds loads of bubbles.. I doubt the pond holds 70 gallons, so I will have to be carefull of long hot spells in future.. First time this has happened in about 20 years though. ... |
