What's the point in the social forum if this is going to happen?

Sorry, but close what If a thread has been closed, I'm sure there will be a good reason. The key words in Kens post of 2006 were it be used in a responsible manner, but that posts would be moderated to club rules.

Ken wrote that sticky in different times, since then we have gained 10s of thousands of new members of all walks of life, and the site is much much busier.

Some of the topics of conversation broached today would not have been considered back then, you've only got to look back to see.

We are a growing and evolving club, and need to consider all users in relation to what is acceptable and won't cause distress or discord.

I think the thread in question dealt with currant Issues in the middle East, I too was rather surprised that it was closed down so quickly. Sure it may have led to a heated discussion, but I feel that should that have happened, then that would have been the time to warn people, and remind them of the rules...

But I don't understand why it was closed in it's infancy....

I'm in agreement with the team on this one, political, religious and racial discussion should not be a topic of debate on the forum.

Absolutely no intension of being a stick in the mud, it's just my own personal feeling on the matter.

They happen all the time. Some get closed, some don't. And some get closed quicker than others. There's a thread running at the moment that the Mod who closed this one has been tidying up by combining posts. If anything it is more political than this one, certainly in my view, but it hasn't been closed (and I don't want it to be either). It has been conducted in a good manner and as long as that continues I don't see a problem. It's not like anyone has to join in if they don't want to.
