Make sure you get your claim in against the council, don't forget to get pictures of the pothole if not done so already.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will find it will cost you more than that if the claim is finalised against you. Your insurance premium will more than likely increase - they are snake oil sellers!! Protected no claims yes but watch them rack it up all the same.

Wot he said!!!!

I had protected NCD and I smugly claimed for minor damage and indeed my NCD was still intact at renewal when the premium went up by 50%!

"Oh yes, Sir, you still have 70% NCD but the policy has been loaded because of the claim."

Surprised that they didn't try and tell you how well off you were, after all, you're now saving even more money that you were before!

Smoke and mirrors, you'll not catch me paying for 'protected' NCD especially after hearing these sorts of horror stories.

Try mine, I had my Land Rover Discovery written off by an idiot. Did not claim off my insurance was sorted by a claim company of the 3rd parties insurance as it was his fault, the fact I was tucked up in bed helped.

My insurance went up by 50% till the none fault accident went off my claim! Insurance companies are snakes as they know full well it's illegal not to have it so pray on these things....

I would go to a claims court against the council and not bother with the insurance at all. If its not repairable then sell parts to make some money back and get a new temp car.

I'd be interested to see a photo of the pothole. Must be a corker if it can do that at 10mph.

I would agree about doing the claim yourself (although it isn't a forgone conclusion you'll get paid) as insurance companies are rubbish at doing them for some reason.
