Yes ban them. They are a pointless waste of money with potential to do so much damage. Apart from the fire today ( which is at one of our competitors), I remember a few years back a farmer was complaining about them because inside the paper envelope there is a wire frame. One of his cows had eaten the frame amongst the grass and choked on it.

Best ban cigarette butt's then as they can start fire's, ohh and fireworks there dangerous best there banned as well. And chip pans they have caused way more fires than lanterns ever have. Natural gas best get rid of that as well as many an explosion has been cause by that... It amazes me that no one is asking the question why was dangerous flammable material stored outside instead of inside and why wasent it covered over if it's so dangerous. The bales of plastic in yesterday's fire arent by themselves classed as dangerous flammable material, no more than trees being flammable, or people hanging there washing out which is flammable. Wood yards store wood outside etc etc. Nobody expects a naked flame to fall from the sky and set fire to their property.

I think that once a chip pan catches fire it is indeed a naked flame and does indeed do damage to innocent peoples property. Yes fireworks are dangerous and they should all be banned then, not in my opinion. If bales of highly flammable plastic aren't by themselves dangerous, and are indeed as you state no more dangerous than trees or washing line's, then what's all the fuss about. As for naked flames falling from the sky, I repeat cigarette ends are thrown everywhere so should be banned.. |

??? is the fact there are other fire risks, a good reason for not getting rid of one?

Coincidentally we had an email sent to everyone at work today telling us what to do if we caught fire. Maybe it's time we had fire wardens on all rooftops ..... it'd do wonders for the unemployment figures.
