That's incredible, one of the most touching animal tales I heard was a cat & dog lived together & were very close & the cat died & the owners buried it in the garden & that night the dog squeezed through the cat flap, dug it up, brought it back in the house, licked it clean & covered it with a blanket

Devils' advocate......

Was the dog related to the dog that it tried to save?

Or...

Was it a dog(human)itarium act?

If the former.... Understood.

If the latter.... Humans need to refine their understanding of animal behaviour

Which brings up the question.... Are we, really, the most intelligent species on the planet?

Douglas Adams coined it well with the opening paragraph from his book "The Hitch Hikers' Guide to the Galaxy (the 4th book in the trilogy - So Long and Thanks for all the Fish)..... Man thought he was the most intelligent animal because he had invented the wheel and the Atom Bomb. The dolphins thought they were the most intelligent, because they had not !!!! (After that it reverts to silliness and my quote may not be exact, but carries the sentiment) But a deep statement nonetheless

Dogs, on average, across the species are apparently equivalent in intelligence to a 3-4 year old human child..... Makes you think..................
