Default Mot failed

Just got back for the garage and the car has failed.
More my fault than that of the cars....
Power steering leak , after fitting a brand new rack but used the old washers to connect the pipe work, and that's where its leaking from
Handbrake was the other issue which I was 50 50 about.
So all in all not a bad result.
Emission test past and that's without a service and 220000 miles
Stan

If you don’t have new washers, you can reuse the old ones by annealing them first.

Unless they are the dowty seal ones....

Annealing is where you heat the copper washer until it turns to a cherry red colour .Then quench in cold water This softens the copper. This gives better sealing qualities .Hope this helps

Default Not really

It helps because I didn't have Scooby what annealing was but doesn't help solve the problem as they are not copper washer's , they have a metal outer with a rubber inner piece , but thanks anyway
PS just looked on Rimmers and they list them as m14 washer pas , no longer available.
I will give jay gee a ring on Monday and see if they sell them

Plenty of Dowty sealing washers on the bay of fleas which is where I recently obtained a couple for my power steering overhaul.
