I assure you I shall give you no flack. I appreciate what your saying Brian as you a very highly regarded member of the forum and I value you taking the time to read my posts and reply to them, you have already said you would not be happy doing this and I appreciate your honesty and respect why you would choose not to do it. If you wouldn't mind though your technical knowledge would be a help to me if I was to Persue my idea

Your going to really struggle without major changes (i.e. to echo what everyone else said!).

If you want more than >200HP you *will* need another turbo (and then very quickly some uprated clutch...)

I have already been looking at my options for larger/up rated turbos. And am also looking for a suitable clutch upgrade but options are a bit thin on the ground to be honest I shall keep looking though

The 160 still makes me smile whilst driving. Saying that take off at junctions on wet muddy roads take some getting used too ;-)

Why?

To get the best on offer from the diesel, get the 160 remap, an egr bypass and a decat. That's it.

Above that, buy a better car with more bhp.

More to the point, bhp means nothing anyway, it just sounds good, it is the torque that turns the wheels.

You should have bought a V8 and stuck some CDTI badges on it innit........

A diesel engine was designed to run on peanut oil in 3rd world countries, it was never meant to be tuned for racing!!

Shire horses entering the grand National come to mind...

I had my old Tourer at 187BHP - this was via a combination of a remap, tuning box, stainless steel exhaust with no catalytic converter and a few other minor bits and bobs.
The clutch was a nearly new (however standard) item, and took it OK. It was a little edgy when really giving it 'the beans', and I'd not take it any higher. I'll have to dig out the torque figures.

You won't get more than 160 without supporting modifications.
