Quite correct!

Just a 9 year old car that hasn't gone anywhere!

Thanks everyone!

I am not sure any car that hasn't been used for 8 or 9 years is a great prospect, let alone at £30K. And if I were going to spend that sort of money I could find a genuinely brand new car I would be very happy with.

My 827 Coupe was near mint before not being used for six months and now needs work. In my experience cars are better lightly used than not used at all. It is very difficult to provide a car with good conditions for long-term storage, although maybe a showroom is as good as it gets. However, rubbers and plastics still age just sitting, as do fluids, and the brakes can need servicing after relatively short lay ups, etc. Furthermore, unless the car is stored in a dry and well-ventilated place, even the leather can suffer.

Consequently, I think that 'new' 75 V8 will cost its eventual buyer a significant amount of 'servicing' due to its long lay up, and if it's in a warehouse rather a showroom, I'd be very wary of it. There's probably a good reason it remains unsold...other than the price, which in my opinion might sell if it were £20K.

Anyway, there was a low-mileage (34K miles) with service history RHD 75 V8 that recently sold on eBay for £5,400. It had quite a bit of interest, and I thought it was going to fetch significantly more than that. I contemplated bidding, but then would probably have had a car that I would have needed to store long-term, as I doubt I could convince the authorities here that a 2004 Rover is a classic car, and as far as I am aware that is the only way to import a RHD car. Hence, my search for a LHD car worthy of going to the trouble of importing and paying the very high import taxes/duties. I believe there's a guy in Lithuania with a nice LHD V8, so I know it's a possibility. But also that it can take years to find such a car.

Looked like a nice car that one you mentioned...
